Ashleigh is a certified speech-language pathologist, holding the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She graduated with a M. S. in Communication Disorders from West Texas A&M University in 2017 and is currently licensed to provide services in Texas. Ashleigh has experience in outpatient clinic and school therapy settings, both in-person and virtually, with a variety of communication delays/disorders.
Ashleigh's experience and training allow her to provide dynamic, patient-centered care to best identify and meet the unique needs of each individual based on their strengths, weaknesses, interests, and desires to aid in their current (and future) educational, social, and vocational success. In-depth evaluations allow Ashleigh tailor a treatment plan with attainable goals. Because patient needs may change over time, and certain interventions or therapeutic strategies may yield better results, ongoing progress monitoring throughout treatment allows Ashleigh to determine effectiveness and make modifications as needed.
Ashleigh is also one of the few PROMPT trained clinicians in the Amarillo area. PROMPT is an acronym for PROMPTS for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets. During assessment, Ashleigh identifies where motor breakdowns occur in speech sound production. Treatment then involves a hands-on, touch/feel approach where Ashleigh uses her hands to facilitate and/or change speech sound production with children from as young as 6 months of age +.
